Joe and I travelled down to Eastbourne this afternoon and met up with Dorian, Jonathan and D's partner, Alison at their house at the harbourside. We were very pleased to meet their new addition, Harvey, the Springer Spaniel and really enjoyed playing ball!
We then all went on to Betty's house and enjjoyed a delicious lunch with her, Karla and baby Nathan. What a sweetheart he is! I felt very proud to hold the newest member of the family, and felt very emotional thinking about how he'd be my father's first great grand son! He certainly had a Houghton look about him, and gave me the most wonderful smile I've ever seen from any baby. Very lovely!
Joe and I were sad to leave at 5pm, but had to get back to Bristol. We felt very happy to have seen everyone and were amazed to see Karla looking so well and trim after having a 9 pound baby only weeks ago. We look forward to another visit hopefully soon and will post more photos here when Joe downloads them from his phone. Here is one for now though......from my camera, taken just before we said goodbye!

Thanks for posting that little snippet of your day in Eastbourne. I guess Joe is behind the camera. Where's Harvey?
I saw your other pictures on Facebook this morning. I'm glad you got to the Globe. Did you go into Tate Modern? Waste of time if you ask me. Call me a Philistine with no class if you like, but I came out of there feeling very irritated.
Your picture of the London Eye reminded me of the time I took Dad on it. I was glad to read that Karla and Nathan are doing well.
Altogether, it was a very welcome post. I do yearn for news from 'home' and you filled a gap very neatly.
Hi Nic,
I'm glad you enjoyed reading the post and realise that news from home is very welcome when one is so far away. I remember when I was travelling in Australia, Dad used to write letters about the dogs, the cricket and the elections which I greatly enjoyed reading and they helped me to remember homely things which I missed.
Joe is indeed behind the camera, and harvey was left back at Dorian's house before we went to Betty's so wasn't in the pic, unfortunately.
We didn't get to the Tate, I agree with you, not something that interests me at all. After the Globe, we walked down Fleet Street, Strand and The Mall to take in Buck Palace and then walked back thru St James Park towards Waterloo. It was a lovely Spring day and we really enjoyed it. Also, we saw The Halfway House in Earlsfield and thought of you and Rob in the quiz!
We plan to visit Dad's tree tomorrow or Friday (depending on weather) and will take a photo to post on here for you to see x
